Doldrums verbaasde in 2013 met het gekke maar geniale ‘Lesser evil’, nu heeft de Canadese band een opvolger voor dat album klaar. De titel daarvan is ‘The air conditioned nightmare’ en voor het werk tekende de groep bij Sub Pop. Die brengen de plaat uit op 6 april, een tracklist vind je hieronder. Dit had frontman Airick Woodhead nog te vertellen over zijn tweede worp: “Conflict is at the heart of this album. There’s a lot of paranoid sentiment and Dystopian imagery in there. The threat of a mundane reality ties it together, as does an obsession with plasticity. Songs come from specific feelings or images. Anxiety is my default state.”
Die angst klinkt wel door in een eerste single, ‘Hotfoot’. Verder klinkt het nummer zo schizofreen als je van de Canadezen gewoon bent en valt ook hier Animal Collective-psychedelica op.
